WEST Welcomes George Sabol, Ph.D., P.E., new Senior Technical Advisor in our Tempe, Arizona office. Dr. Sabol brings more than 40 years of experience in hydrology, hydraulics, and structure design in the Rocky Mountain West and internationally and is a recognized technical leader in flood hydrology, having prepared several manuals and guidelines for regulatory agencies. That expertise has resulted in his participation as a technical lead and reviewer in the development and use of probable maximum precipitation and probable maximum flood studies for site-specific applications and regional criteria. He has managed major dam repair and rehabilitation engineering projects for both water conservation and hydropower generation, and has served on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission board of consultants to industry.
ASDSO Releases Spencer Dam Failure Investigation Report
ASDSO has released the Spencer Dam Failure Investigation Report with important lessons learned for those in the dam safety community. WEST’s Martin Teal was one of the investigative panel members.

Congratulations to the FEMA Coastal Study Management Team for “Outstanding Partnership” as recognized by FEMA Headquarters Risk Management Directorate at this year’s convening of the ten FEMA regions to share floodplain mapping information. Dr. Ray Walton, a WEST Senior Hydraulic Engineer, has served on the CCAMP Technical Advisory Panel reviewing all technical approaches and results. WEST is proud to be part of this long-standing and important collaboration.
WEST Awarded Albuquerque IDIQ
WEST is pleased to announce it has been awarded an Indefinite Delivery Architect-Engineer Contract from the U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation, Albuquerque Area Office, for professional hydrographic surveying services within the Bureau of Reclamation’s Upper Colorado Region.
